Quietude Reviews

Experience with Boiron Quietude?

The majority of the ingredients in Quietude function by affecting levels of key neurotransmitters in the brain, like glutamate and acetylcholine. This can balance out moods, and lead to a more restful sleep.

Quietude is manufactured by a company called Boiron, which is headquartered in Messimy, France. It was founded in 1932 by two twin brothers who were both pharmacists, and it is now located in 59 countries worldwide. This company produces homeopathic products to enhance well-being and treat health issues.

Quietude

Two sisters from an affluent family re-explore their unusually close bonds in “The Quietude,” Pablo Trapero’s beautifully crafted multilayered drama that’s also his most enjoyable film in years. Boasting a trio of actresses at the top of their game and cinematography that constantly impresses with its confident yet unshowy fluidity, the movie deftly enters into the bosom of a family harboring multiple secrets, encompassing the personal and political. Spanish-language films about wealthy people always risk getting slapped with the “telenovela” label, yet the emotions here are real, even if they are at a heightened level. Art-house play seems assured.

‘The Quietude’: Venice Review

the quietude La quietud c macasssar productions

With its dysfunctional central family, one might have imagined La Quietud as a return to Pablo Trapero’s roots, in particular 2004’s authentic Rolling Family. But the director’s approach has become more embellished since then. The Quietude of the title is a sprawling, ostentatious ranch owned by a wealthy clan whose catalogue of shenanigans – including adultery, disputed paternity, rape and mariticide – belong more in the realm of soap opera than reality, although Trapero also throws in the more sombre fact of complicity with Argentine’s dictatorship. Needless to say, life in La Quietud is far from peaceful.

The three lead actresses are hugely watchable

With a trio of such fine actresses as Martina Gusman, Bérénice Bejo and Graciela Borges centre stage, it’s hard to fathom why Trapero needs to resort to over-ripe confection. His last film, the dark, muscular true-crime drama The Clan won him the director’s Silver Lion in Venice in 2015, among a clutch of awards and nominations en route to a strong festival and theatrical showing. Despite its attractive packaging, it’s unlikely La Quietud will have the same impact after it premieres in the same festival, but out of Competition.

As so often happens, a family tragedy prompts the arrival of absent kin and sets in motion a runaway train of home truths, revelations and confrontations. In this case, when the aging Augusto has a stroke (just as he’s giving an informal statement to lawyers about some very dodgy business), his older daughter Eugenia (Bejo) flies over from Paris to join her sister Mia (Gusman) and their mother Esmerelda (Borges) on the ranch.

At first glance, the sisters seem deeply bonded, to the extent that a reminiscence of childhood crushes takes on a lusty show of shared sibling sexuality that stops one notch short of incest. Though this may simply be a fruitier version of the tactile family relations of so many Argentine movies, the fact that Trapero makes such a play of it is a sign of misjudgements to come. Horny catch-up aside, the sisters are knee-deep in rivalry, notably involving Eugenia’s partner and Mia’s childhood sweetheart Vincent (Edgar Ramírez) and Esmerelda’s blatant and hurtful preference for her first-born.

So with dad on life support in his bedroom, the three women and the men floating in their orbit let loose with their emotions, Trapero playing the various tensions with the volume up – literally, whether it’s Gusman and Borges conducting some impressively full-throated rows, or the rude interventions of a pop soundtrack whenever a genuine moment of drama threatens to work some magic.

All three actresses are hugely watchable. Gusman and Bejo actually look very similar, which adds to their believable rapport and the torment of poor Vincent, who really can’t decide between them. Appearances aside, the stars create a nicely nuanced delineation in the sisters’ emotional registers. As for Borges, she’s a scene-stealing diva in her own living room, with Greek tragedy in her veins; the scene in which she looms over her comatose husband with the words, “Die, you sonofabitch” is quite brilliant. But there are far too many secrets and lies for one film, to the extent that what could have been a simmering tale of political complicity, greed and family disorder becomes just winds up feeling a bit silly.

Lensing and production design is excellent – the garishly red ranch being something to behold – but also risky, since the team creates a pampered world whose protagonists elicit very little sympathy.

A few years ago, we set up shop in our garage to paint real schemes to make a video and post on. Quietude was one of our key accent colors for my Balanced Beige Review. One of my favorite things about Quietude is that it works so well with neutral colors. Balanced Beige has a taupe undertone, but other neutrals that are more beige (like Nomadic Desert) also work well with Quietude.

Quietude Color Review

Quietude SW 6212 Monochromatic Color Scheme

This month’s featured color is Quietude, a favorite accent color, that has a nice blue-green undertone with a slight hint of gray in it to keep it from feeling too bright. Yes, blue again. Can’t stop. Won’t stop. Blue is taking color trends by storm and I’m totally fine with it!!

Technically, Quietude is found in the “green” section of the Sherwin-Williams deck. It’s a tricky color because it can look blue in some lighting and more green in other lighting. Quietude is a color chameleon of sorts and that is why I am taking some liberty and calling it a blue!

Even though we have completed the Color Wheel, that doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop highlighting colors! There are so many other colors that I haven’t written about that deserve some time in the spotlight. I hope to spotlight at least 1 Sherwin-Williams color each month. So reach out and let me know which color you want to see next! For now keep reading this post for my Quietude review!

If you would like to view my past posts on the Color Wheel Featured Colors and reviews you can go HERE. But also be sure to check out the Color Wheel complete with my hand-picked color schemes for the entire Sherwin-Williams color deck! There are over 1700 colors and each color has 4 schemes for you to explore using in your space.

Quietude SW 6212 Review

Quietude has been a favorite of mine since my in-laws kitchen reno about 7 years ago. As I sat down to help my MIL narrow down and finalize her selections (with my first baby girl in tow), she knew we wanted a pop of color on her kitchen island. Guess what we decided? You got it, Quietude!

Quietude as a pop of color on the kitchen island

Not only did we end up doing the island in Quietude, but we added a pop of color in the back of her open cabinet/shelf design. Blue is a favorite color of hers and on woodwork, Quietude turns more blue and so we were super happy with the result.

I love Quietude for an accent because it is right in the middle for color depth with an LRV of 48, which means that it reflects a good amount of light, but not as much as Rainwashed or Window Pane, shades that are lighter than Quietude on the paint swatch. I already mentioned that I like Quietude for accents (like islands), but I also love Quietude for entire rooms or spaces. Keep reading for my fav places to use Quietude!

Now that you have a basis for Quietude and have seen my color schemes, check out my Pinterest gallery for some inspiration. See below and let me know which one you like the most. If you have your own pictures, send them to me and I will post them!

Where to use Quietude SW 6212

Kitchen islands don’t get to have all of the fun with Quietude! Bedrooms, bathrooms and office spaces are perfect spaces to use this mood-inspiring “quiet” blue-green. Let’s check out the bedroom first…

Quietude in the Bedroom

I always love blue, but I especially love blue in the bedroom. I had a color very similar to Quietude in my bedroom at my last home and it was very dreamy. For real, I always felt like I was on vacation in the Carribeans with this shade. Take some cues from the bedroom pictured below and run, don’t walk to your closest SW store and get going painting your bedroom in Quietude!

This bedroom has a creamy-white headboard and soft bedding to keep the soothing vibe going strong. I love the pop of darker blue colors and gray in the canvas art above the bed. I am a huge fan of pairing whites with blue, so this room was right on target for me!

Quietude in the Office

Who wouldn’t want to feel more relaxed in a home office? This beach house has an amazing office in Quietude and I’m in love. I always work better when my mind is at ease and not anxious with all of the thoughts in my head. Quietude takes it down a notch. There is a reason it is called “Quiet” tude.

I like how the office pictured adds a sandy neutral color for the window shades and the rustic desk. The white trim and comfy office chair further complete the crisp and clean beach feel. You can recreate this beach office in any home in the country for a gorgeous and serene space to work.

Quietude for an Accent Wall

A few years ago, we set up shop in our garage to paint real schemes to make a video and post on. Quietude was one of our key accent colors for my Balanced Beige Review. One of my favorite things about Quietude is that it works so well with neutral colors. Balanced Beige has a taupe undertone, but other neutrals that are more beige (like Nomadic Desert) also work well with Quietude.

Balanced Beige with Quietude

For my Balanced Beige Review, I used Quietude below the chair rail and paired the scheme with one of my brown bird-patterned armchairs. I actually bought this chair (along with its twin), at a resale shop and had them recovered. I loved how the blue, taupe and brown came together for a warm and cozy yet soothing feel. This is a great way to bring in a pop of color to your home if you have mostly neutrals going on!

Quietude on Exteriors

Quietude on exteriors makes my heart skip a beat. I am a beach girl so anything that reminds me of the beach makes me happy. Probably why I love soft blues so much… This house pictured below is actually in Colorado, but it could be anywhere!

Not only does Quietude work well for a main body color, but I love it as a front door color too. It is similar to Drizzle, a color that I featured on my Front Door Post, but a tiny bit softer. Either way you spin it, get some blue on your exterior asap!
