(Review) ReVive Skincare: Nobel Prize Winning Science
The teen years and the ’20s are seldom filled with frown lines, but once you hit your ’30s, your skin starts to time travel — and not always in a good way. I know that my frown lines really didn’t start to become trenches until I hit the big 30.
When I had breakfast with ReVive’s VP of Communications and Business Development, Hylton Lea, a few weeks ago, I was introduced to the power of the science and founder Dr. Gregory Bays Brown vision. The premise is very simple: ReVive’s molecules speed up skin cell generation but uses what happens naturally in the body. The proprietary skincare technology, EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor & Nobel Prize winning science), made up of 53 blocks of protein is reproduced and bio-engineered exactly as it occurs in the body.

The Moisturizing Renewal Eye Cream ($130) may leave you balking at the price but I firmly believe and maintain that good value — especially for skincare — is an investment. This cream promises to increase cell renewal and hydrate, as well as remove the appearance of fine lines.
I love that it’s thick enough to be categorized as a “cream” but lighter than souffle on your skin. There was no fragrance (a plus for me) and no allergic reaction, and my eyes were noticeably less dark, and less puffy. Obviously, the fine lines take a few weeks for you to notice a difference, and this cream delivered (I’m not going to line — I don’t have too many fine lines, and my biggest problems are dark circles and puffiness: both fait accompli after using this cream). When I used the cream, I also noticed that my under eye area was brightened too. So, for those who are thinking it may make a good eye primer, I do say yes.
ReVive’s skincare offerings are simple, but tailored to all the problems most women face. There’s a Renewal Travel Kit ($395) that I have my eyes on, with selections hand picked by Dr. Brown; the Defensif Renewal Serum which shields your skin from external aggressors; and the Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 15.
Although the name sounds French, the company is based in the U.S. The name does leave you feeling recharged and refreshed!

Before masking
My skin is feeling pretty crappy today. PIE is redder than usual, on top of overall irritation and dryness . I’ve cleansed, toned, and exfoliated my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Material
Out of the packet, I detected a light floral fragrance which smelled suspiciously like rose. It was such a challenge to pull the pieces out of the packet. The 2-piece hydrogel mask was sandwiched between 2 plastic backings and drenched in gel essence. The essence was rather tacky hence they were stuck to the inside walls on the packaging.
Another observation was the white opaque hydrogels. I’ve never encountered one that’s opaque, they’ve always been translucent.
During masking
Again, the pieces were so slippery, it was a little challenging to place it on my face. Both sides were equally smooth, so it doesn’t matter which side went on the skin.
Fit was just slightly less than great due to the oblong nose flap. Other than that, 2-piece hydrogel mask usually give me a great overall fit.
Adherence was disappointing. The bottom piece kept slipping down, perhaps this was better suited for use while laying down.
I had this on for 30 mins.
After masking
There was very little essence left to pat in. Skin felt very hydrated and tacky. There was no need for a moisturizer. Oily skin types might want to skip this mask because it might induce feelings of ickiness. I also noticed a slight reduction in redness and slight increase in brightening. Pore size is also smaller, hydrogels often give me this effect. However, it did pill up on me once it dried down.
To be honest, because it performed as advertised, I wanted to like it more for my skin, but I need deeply hydrating products that feel a bit oilier, so this wasn't as moisturizing as I wanted it to be. Throughout the day, I felt like my skin was craving more hydration and I found myself using my face mist more often than usual (my usual method for upping my hydration throughout the day on top of my makeup if needed). After using it in my nighttime routine, I didn't notice much of a difference between the effects of this and my usual serums, but that's probably because my other nighttime products are extremely emollient anyway.
The Feel: A gel-oil hybrid
It's really difficult to describe the texture of this product because I've never tried any other gel-oil hybrids, but that's exactly what this is. It has the bounciness that is usually characteristic of a gel, but spreads the way an oil-based hydrator does. It's surprisingly lightweight for something with the word "oil" in its name. It easily layered with my other skincare products and didn't mess up my makeup on top of it. I don't believe it was hydrating enough for my skin type and needs, but the texture was nice and I believe people with normal or combination skin will like it a lot more.
I started using this product less than a month ago and it has made my skin very soft and smooth. I'm sorry I didn't start using this product months ago. I'm planning on buying the entire line. Love it.

A moisture drink for your face!
This is such a remarkable product. Many moisturizers, especially for evening application, are heavy. This hydrating gel feels just like it sounds. Takes very little, feels so nourishing for your skin going on, and absorbs instantly with no heavy feeling or shine. My skin looks and feels really refreshed and more plump in the am. I definitely recommend it, I discovered it 6 months ago and have been using it nightly.

Hello oily people! This product works! Every claim is true. After the first night, I woke up with smaller pores and no irritation. The second day I noticed a reduction of oil. The third day I had no excess oil, and my skin was glowing and balanced. I stopped for a few days and the oil production remained controlled after a week of non usage I needed to use a couple of blotting papers, so I went back and used this night gel and the next day oil was controlled. I now use this a few times a week to keep my pores in good shape and oil under control. If you are oily or have bouts of excess oil, you really need to try this.
Perfect hydration!
I got a small sample of this product in a starter kit and fell in love with it. This product smells and feels great. Not greasy at all. I love how hydrating it is. Wish there was an identical day formula too!
Non-drying
I have a very oily t-zone, use this at night and seems to help with the oiliness. Does not dry out my skin or make it any more oily, will continue to use.

Nice night time moisturizer
I have used this night cream for many years. I have oily acne prone skin, and this never made me breakout. The only downside I think is the fragrance, which is why I gave it 4 stars.
