Testing out the Decorte Moisture Liposome Serum

The 9 mL / 0.3 FL oz sample size of the Decorte Serum

This serum came in one of my Glossy Boxes a few months back and I was very happy to finally work it into my skin care regime. The sample size was small, but it did last for almost two weeks. I was about three days shy. While most skin care requires about thirty days to actually show results, I generally find that in two weeks I can figure out if it works well enough with my skin to bother trying a full sized version. (In case you are wondering that’s why there are no before and after results pictured).

Now I have tried a small foil packet of this serum before and I liked that tiny sample enough to do the skin care happy dance when I saw Glossy Box included this sample in my monthly beauty box. Especially since it is a fairly pricey serum. There are three sizes; 2 fl. oz. / 60 mL for $125, 1.3 fl. oz. / 40 mL for $95, and .67 fl. oz. / 20 mL for $50. So you can see why I wanted to try out a larger sample before committing to a full sized version. Incidentally, the sample size included in my Glossy box was 0.3 FL oz./9mL.

So what is a liposome serum and what is it supposed to do?

You can change the destiny of your skin.

That’s the philosophy behind Moisture Liposome. The most essential factor for strong, beautiful and healthy skin is care that supplies and maintains high-quality, continuous moisture to keep skin in a prime condition – resistant to dryness, roughness, and other troubles.

A lightweight, super-moisturizing serum, Moisture Liposome, with Liposome Technology™, effortlessly becomes one with skin to promote a smooth, healthy, and radiant condition. Highly compatible with skin, multilayered capsules measuring just 0.1 to 0.2 micrometers composed of biomimetic phospholipid bilayers are time-released to infuse skin with lasting, all-day hydration; improving skin’s texture, firmness and translucence. Works in synergy with skin while enhancing the absorption of subsequent skincare products that follow.

First off, I need to say something about the packaging. When you screw off the cap, it looks like there is just a big hole in the top that product is going to come pouring out of. It doesn’t. It’s the kind of stopper where the product doesn’t come out until the bottle is squeezed. Personally, I like that as I am often working with wet or damp hands during my skin care routine (if not cream coated) so I occasionally drop things into the sink. (Rip Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder). I’ll admit, I did drop this and not a drop spilled because of the bottles design.

I know, not the point of the review, but an excellent design feature.

When squeezed, the bottle dispenses a little dot of product into the hand. The small amount is exactly what was needed to cover my face and neck. Any more, was too much. It is not a liquid, but it isn’t really a solid cream either. It is like a gel or water cream in consistency. There was almost no scent to the product at all.

Most of the time when I tried to smell the serum I just smelled the remains of my cleanser on my skin and not the actual serum. So even though there is fragrance listed as the final ingredient in the ingredients list, it is not a noticeable addition. Unless the fragrance added is there to nullify the scents of the other ingredients, in that case well done. If you have issues with scent in skin care, this serum is not going to be a problem for you.

It is very hydrating. Seriously, one of the reasons that a little is enough is that more just takes longer to absorb so you are waiting forever and feeling like you are wasting product. The extra will absorb with no problem, it just takes longer. My skin tends to be normal leaning towards oily in the summer so a small amount was fine for me, but even adding too much didn’t make my skin go greasy, it just took longer to absorb. If you are a little more on the dry end of the spectrum, you may have to use a little more product, but I think it could work for you as well. It seemed like a very versatile formula.

I have to say, my skin soaked it up. On days where I spent too much time in the sun, this was an amazing product to use fight after washing my face. While I liked it now because it never made me greasy, I think I would like it even more in the winter time when my skin is dryer and dealing with central heating.

I never noticed the micrometer sized capsules talked of in the description, but then without a microscope why would I?

I will say that it kept my skin hydrated and soft. While I can’t prove that it helped other skin care elements in any way, I can say that it did not react poorly to any other ingredients in my regime and while using it, the slightly dry patches around healing ‘mask-ne’ weren’t dry at all. It also didn’t irritate any of my break outs either. It just quietly and inoffensively hydrated my skin. Which is all it was really asked to do.

But now the big question, would I actually purchase this product?

To be honest, I would definitely pick up the smallest $50 size to try for a full long trial. Because of the two week trial, I know my skin reacts well to the serum, but quite frankly I didn’t use it long enough to be able to see actual results. And if I’m going to spend $125 on a product, I want to know that I’m going to show some results. I would pick up the 20 mL size because it would give me enough product for a full thirty day trial. Whether or not I would spend the $125 for a 60 mL would depend on the full length trial. I do know that Look Fantastic sells Decorte products and they pretty routinely have sales and discounts and I am always up for a good discount.

Incidentally, Look Fantastic is about to begin their Labor Day sale it runs from 8/25 – 9/9. There is 22% off Sitewide with the code LABORDAY22. So now might not be a bad time to stock up on some products.

Given how well my skin reacted to the sample size though, I think I will be testing the Decorte Liposome Serum out this winter in a full sized trial. I think I’m also going to look into more Japanese skin care because of this. To be honest I know more about Korean skincare, mostly because there is so much of it around. Maybe I’ll be able to find a sample kit of Decorte products to try. While I don’t know if they offer a sample pack for sale, I do know they also sell makeup and I always have a soft spot for skin care companies that also product makeup

Whether skin care or makeup, this liposome sample from my Glossy Box has gotten me more interested in the brand Decorte (and I suppose Japanese skin care in general) and I suspect once I’ve cleared out a little space in my skincare drawer, there will be a longer full sized test in store, at the very least. So apparently I have gone from foil packet, to sample sized, to planning a month long trial. Don’t you just love when that happens?

Moisture Liposome Serum (C$153 for 2.0 oz. made in Japan) is a lightweight super moisturizing serum that hydrates skin immediately while it retains skin’s moisture all day long. Skin looks and feels plumped and well hydrated with a nice fresh radiance that we all dream of. This is one of the best selling products from the brand and world’s first multi-layered Liposome treatment lotion. I have been using it for the past two weeks along with the Liposome Moisturizer (I really wanted to see how the line works together + I love to stay within the line when it comes to skincare). I have been amazed on how it works toward hydration on complexion making it look fresh and radiant. You can really use it alone as a lightweight moisturizer or use is as a base for your moisturizer for more hydration. The texture super soft and carries a gel like feeling into it. I have truly loving the combination of both for my morning skincare routine, the steps are nice and easy.

When it comes to skin care, Japanese skin care comes first in my mind. I have had tried some makeup and skin care products from the Decorte beauty during summer time (reviewed here) which I tested the Liposome Moisturizer. I was incredibly impressed within two weeks of use, at the time I knew I wanted to discover more from the brand and Liposome line was something I wanted to start with at first. I requested some key skin care items from the brand which was very kind of them to send over some press samples toward testing purposes. Moisture Liposome Serum is one of those requested products that I really wanted to give it a try. The Liposome line consists of Serum, Moisturizer and an eye cream to really complete a full skin care ritual.

I have already reviewed the Liposome Moisturizer (C$125 for 1.7 oz. made in Japan) a while back, I still love the lightweight gel like texture. Its perfect for all skin types and textures. It gets into the skin immediately and works like a protected film over the skin where it retain the skin’s hydration for longer period of the time. It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on skin while it really gives skin a refreshed look.

Decorte is one of the skin care brand that brings the best skin care items with minimal effort to get that true effect. I personally use more heavier texture moisturizers and oil based serums during the winter time and just in time for spring I slowly use light weight skin care items to prepare my skin for much lighter skincare routine for summer time. Its very important to recognize the skin care products and how to use them on the right time. I find the Liposome line works great for hydration and to add a nice radiance to your overall complexion. I feel its desinged for all skin combinations and works great all year long. For me its a perfect winter-spring transition skin care products to introduce to your skincare routine.

The Texture: Lightweight and watery. You can choose to apply it via a soaked cotton pad or with your bare hands. It’s absorbed super quickly and leaves no traces of greasiness nor stickiness. The skin feels instantly more hydrated (which is why I sometimes soak a cotton pad with it and place it on drier portions of the skin. Indulgence much I know heh).

I say…

The Packaging: Tbh, there’s nothing fanciful about its packaging, which is somewhat of a minor letdown from its usual gorgeous and intricate detailing of its makeup products. It does come with a lovely gradient effect though. Another upside I must highlight is its material – finally. a treatment essence that does not come in a heavy glass bottle (well, theoretically, the first one that I tried without a heavy glass bottle was from Kiehl’s) My weak flabby butterfly underarms rejoice (I kid, I kid). But it really is a boon that I no longer have to worry about smashing a glass bottle (no thanks to my butterfingers). The cap swivels open very smoothly to reveal the tiny hole through which the liquid comes out from.

The Scent: A floral fragrant scent that isn’t overpowering.

The Verdict: Hold up now. Before you balk and gasp at the price tag (which is exactly what I did) – this really does work! This is the brainchild of 12 years of research. What makes it special? Its ingredients such as loquat leaf extract and butcher’s broom root extract are encapsulated in ultraaaa small liposomes measuring just 0.1-0.2 microns in size, which allow them to really and deeply penetrate your skin. After just 2 weeks of use on just half my face, I noticed a refinement in texture, and more importantly, it somehow helped to dislodge the dirt in the clogged pores a lot more easily. I’m serious. I actually had a softer, smoother and less clogged right half of the nose, and bumpier, more clogged left half of the nose. Overall, the skin did feel more moisturised and hydrated (without that tight-skin feeling), and subsequently, slightly firmer. I suffered no breakouts whatsoever – it was super gentle and yet effective on the skin. Definitely ranks among one of the best treatment toners / activating essences I’ve tried. If you’ve yet to give yourself a treat with your 13th month or impending CNY angbaos, I’d recommend trying this 😀

I have been using it for more than a month and still left about 20% in my 6g sample container.
The white gel-cream smells nice, has an almost silky texture and glides onto the skin pretty well. It can be slightly sticky after application and does require some time for it to get absorbed into the skin.
The skin feels hydrated the next morning and soft and supple after a week’s usage.

This is yet another GWP with the same magazine that comes with the essence which I have reviewed before. With such a pleasant and positive experience using the essence previously, I was looking forward to using its night cream. And true to my expectations, Cosme Decorte Moisture Liposome Essence does deliver and I am brimming with confidence in this brand.

While I understand the need of using a night cream at night ( to repair the skin while its at a rested state ), sometimes, I rather let the skin breathe. I do not like heavy duty stuff on the skin and most night creams are heavy.

Remember what I was sharing during my previous entry? That I have 3 star products that had helped me to achieve soft supple skin recently? Well, this is the last product. After using Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil to remove my make-up, I use this essence just before I sleep. In the morning, I would use Bioderma Light Soothing Cream before leaving for work.

I started off using Cosme Decorte Moisture Liposome Essence before the other 2 products so I was able to judge the efficacy without any biased opinions. Even without my weekly exfoliation and facial mask during that first week, my skin was just smooth, soft and supple and I credit the effect to this cream because it was the only new product I have added into my skin regime.

Unlike Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil which exhibits its results right after each cleanse, this cream’s effect was not obvious initially but only after almost a week. So I continued to use it religiously and like it very much.
The Bioderma Light Soothing Cream helped to maintain the soft supple skin throughout the day.

I have been using it for more than a month and still left about 20% in my 6g sample container.

4 users from Cosdna . In the first 5 ingredients, it consists mainly of emollients/ moisturisers which I believe would be good for dry mature skin, however it does contain several parabens as the last few ingredients. It also does contain alcohol and dimethicone in the middle to bottom list.

It comes with a mini tray to soak the coin-formed mask in lotion. Pour your favorite lotion onto the tray – you can choose any lotion to do ‘lotion mask’ with.

Review: Cosme Decorte Liposome Treatment Liquid

Hi everyone! Today I’m back with a review on the much raved Cosme Decorte Liposome Treatment Liquid. This toner has been receiving many awards and prizes since its launch in September 2015, and it’s gained over 1,100 likes and 1,000 reviews with an average rating of 5.5/7 stars on cosme.net! Currently I’m using my second bottle of this toner so I’d like to share my thoughts on it.

Cosme Decorte Liposome Treatment Liquid is a hydrating lotion. It claims to replenishes lost moisture instantly and help clarify, plump and hydrate the skin.

Formulated with ingredients such as Loquat Leaf extract and Butcher’s Broom Root extract encapsulated in ‘liposomes’ in time-released manner. Liposome is a 0.1-0.2 microns microcapsule, and it is biologically similar to human’s skin and allows to penetrate instantly into the stratum corneum and provides long-lasting moisture.

Loquat Leaf Extract (Eriobotrya Japonica Leaf Extract in the list): Has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects
Butcher’s Broom Root extract (Ruscusachleatus Root Extract in the list): Reduces edema (water retention) and acts as an anti-inflammatory

The lotion is translucent (almost clear, though) with a light, watery texture that applies and absorbs into skin easily. When I first saw this lotion, I thought it must be too light for my dehydrated skin, and my impression didn’t change even after I applied it onto the skin. I followed with moisturizer and went to bed, then I woke up with a softer, smoother, clear skin. I also noticed my skin was very hydrated.

It has a soft floral scent to it. I don’t find the scent overpowering, and no alcohol smell – this is important.

The formula is oil-free so it won’t cause your pores to further clog with excess oil, also it’s paraben-free formula, which is always a plus. It’s described as suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin, but there is alcohol listed as third ingredient so avoid if you have very sensitive skin.

I love using Liposome Treatment Liquid after softening skin with my favorite emulsion, AQ MW Repair Emulsion ER (reviewed here). Cosme Decorte lotions are designed to be used after emulsion – you apply emulsion as the first step after cleansing – but I’m sure all of them work for just-cleansed skin as well.

There is another effective way for using this toner. I do ‘lotion mask’ 1-2 times a week with Cosme Decorte Lotion Mask.

It’s a set of 14 dried, compressed face sheet masks.

It comes with a mini tray to soak the coin-formed mask in lotion. Pour your favorite lotion onto the tray – you can choose any lotion to do ‘lotion mask’ with.

The mask is instantly expanded!

Open the mask fully and place it on the face, then leave on for 3-5 minutes.

Yes, this is the same as Japanese Cotton Mask method which does with a cotton pad. I love doing cotton mask too, but coin-formed mask covers the entire face and easy to use than separating cotton pad each time. Also, I’ve tried some of those coin-formed masks from Shiseido and Muji, yet Cosme Decorte Lotion Mask is the most gentle one and fits my face better. It’s made of 100% high-quality natural cotton.

This method consumes a lot of toner but it is effective and I would definitely recommend to try it once.
