Fortunately, natural therapies for menopausal symptoms such as weight gain, hot flashes, night sweats, decreased libido, and mood swings are available. Since many women experience weight gain during menopause, many natural menopause supplements contain herbs and botanicals that support a healthy metabolism. Menopause supplements should be evaluated on proven ingredients, ability to reduce hot flashes and night sweats, ability to provide hormonal balance and boost libido and its overall value.

Shaklee Menopause Balance Complex is a dietary supplement designed to ease the different symptoms of menopause like hot flashes, sleeplessness, low libido and anxiety.

Here are the primary ingredients found in Menopause Complex:

A 2018 study shows that black cohosh may ease menopause symptoms among women experiencing hot flashes. After taking a black cohosh supplement, these women had significantly fewer and less severe symptoms.

Research suggests that soy isoflavones may help strengthen your bones. For women going through menopause, having enough estrogen in their bodies may help preserve their overall bone health.

Some of them share that flaxseed may reduce the frequency of hot flashes [1] in postmenopausal women. However, there is also research on how flaxseed made no difference in decreasing menopausal symptoms.

Anyone with hormone-dependent conditions, such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids or cancers of the breast, ovaries, uterus or prostate, should not take wild yam, cautions Dr. Jampolis.

What Is a Menopause Supplement?

Menopause supplements are typically a combination of botanicals and/or vitamins and minerals administered to alleviate one or more of the symptoms women experience during menopause, says Dr. Petrucci. “Black cohosh, red clover, chasteberry, dong quai and evening primrose are popular botanicals you often see in menopause supplements,” she says.

While there’s a lot of anecdotal evidence to suggest these botanicals can provide some relief—particularly with hot flashes—researchers say many botanicals (aside from black cohosh) found in menopause supplements offer limited scientific evidence showing their effectiveness and long-term safety [2] Geller S.E., Studee L. Botanical and Dietary Supplements for Menopausal Symptoms: What Works, What Does Not. J. Womens Health. 2005;14:634–649. .

I’m 54 and was having multiple intense hot flashes daily and vaginal dryness. I started taking Wild Yam Complex from Standard Process and after two days the difference was like night and day. I am going to try to find another brand to try however, due to the high cost of this particular supplement.

I’ve been taking the Wild Yam vitamins for 1 month. The first 3 days my hot flashes were horrible after taking this vitamin. I continued to take it and I’ve actually gotten worst. 30 minutes after taking it, I have bad hot flashes in my face like running water, my back, my neck. It made me worst. This vitamin does not work

I can’t believe my hot flashes are all but gone , I use 2 capsules of wild yam , one capsule of estroven and a glass of soy milk and I feel a whole lot better .

If you have issues taking progesterone do not use wild yam. It made me very crabby, nervous and aggressive.

This product has worked for me, all though it works much better paired with black cohosh at 80-120mg once daily.Helps men also that go through male menopause.

A waste of money. Took 500mg twice a day for 2 months. Did absolutely nothing. Don’t waste your money.

I couldn’t bear the hot flushes so went into holland & barratt where an employee told me that Wild Yam Root had been recommended. I now recommend this to all my friends and work colleagues who complain of hot flushes, night sweats and breast tenderness as mine have all but disappeared.

I was told I needed a hysterectomy but 10 years on and I’m symptom free

I am 63 and was on estrogen treatments for osteopenia. My doc just took me off in Feb. and I have been having bad night sweats and unable to sleep. This was recommended by two breast cancer survivors so I tried it. Thanks to them I have not completely stopped having night sweats but the intensity has decreased so I can at least get a decent nights sleep now.

I was not having regular periods. Eventually it had been 6 months since I had a period. I also suffered hot flashes, but Black Cohosh took care of that problem. I am now having regular periods again and I’m 51 years old!

I am post menopause. I took it to restore estrogen. Was not quite ready for the response. My libo changed. Increased my energy level and desire to “mate”.

I had been having hot flashes for the last 6 months and am able to use the past tense of had rather then present tense of have because of this product. The first couple of months the hot flashes were uncomfortable and intermittent, increasing in intensity and frequency the last couple of months. Finally, sleeping thr u the night was almost impossible and the days became intolerable. I purchased Nature’s Way Wild Yam Root; 425 mg from my local health food store, took one that afternoon and no hot flashes that night. I have been taking one capsule in the morning and one in the evening for about a month and the hot flashes are gone, absolutely, 100% gone. I have noticed no side effects whatsoever. I could not be happier with the results. Read More Read Less

MenoLabs Review – Probiotic Menopause Supplements

Co-founders Danielle Jacobs and Vanessa Ford started MenoLabs with the belief that all women should have access to high-quality, natural products to support their health.

As women themselves, they understand that menopause can be a difficult transition. And felt that it was a phase of life that isn’t given enough attention by the medical community.

That is why they created their range of doctor-formulated probiotic supplements to help women going through menopause feel their best.

What are the benefits of MenoLab’s probiotic menopause supplements?

MenoLabs offers two probiotic supplements that specifically target menopause symptoms — MenoFit and MenoGlow.

While there is some overlap between the symptoms they help to alleviate (like hot flashes and night sweats), MenoFit primarily helps with natural weight loss while MenoGlow helps to slow the signs of aging.

They are both also:

  • Formulated with natural ingredients
  • Backed up by 20+ years of scientific research conducted by their own in-house medical consultant
  • Cruelty-free
  • Estrogen-free
  • Suitable for vegetarians

Here’s a look at the main ingredients of each supplement and their effects:

Do MenoFit and MenoGlow have any side effects?

MenoLabs states that its supplements are side-effect free. However, everybody’s reaction to supplements can be different. And there have been a few reports of upset stomachs, nausea, and headaches.

Although these are rare, make sure to discuss with your doctor before you start taking any MenoLabs products and if you do experience any of these side effects.

MenoLabs also offer a 90-day money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with their products.

Can anybody take MenoFit and MenoGlow?

Although this product is suitable for most women, those who are on blood thinners, are pregnant or nursing, or are breast cancer survivors should not take these supplements without consulting with their doctor first.

MenoLabs results: what did reviewers have to say?

Taken together, both MenoFit and MenoLabs scored an impressive average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars from a total of 1,759 reviews across two independent platforms (Amazon and US Reviews).

Overall, many users found that both supplements were effective in reducing menopause symptoms. In particular, many said they had:

  • Reduced hot flashes
  • Reduced night sweats
  • Improved weight management
  • Increased energy
  • Better sleep
  • Reduced mood swings
  • Better mental clarity
  • Healthy, glowing skin

Many women mentioned that reduced menopause symptoms helped them to feel like their old selves again. And many also stated it was like they had “gotten their life back” as menopause symptoms can be severe for some.

But MenoFit was better at helping with weight control, increasing energy, and improving sleep. While MenoGlow had more positive reviews about helping with skin, hair, and nail health.

For those that gave negative reviews of the supplements, it was mostly because it didn’t work for them in reducing menopause symptoms. But this is to be expected of any product because everyone is different, and no medication or supplement can ever have 100% effectiveness.

The other main issue for some was its pricing. Several people mentioned that even though it worked for them, they felt that it was expensive. But given its effectiveness, they would still continue buying it.
