Release Your Lines . My latest obsessions are her two Line Release products, a serum and an eye cream. They really make skin look brighter and younger.

The Serum . After using HydraKate Line Release Face Serum, that bit of crepiness I was beginning to see on my forehead is nearly gone. It truly is like needle-free Botox in a bottle. In fact, it’s made with something called Leuphasyl, which is considered a safer alternative to the Botulinium Toxin A used in Botox treatments.

The serum immediately tightens skin and minimizes those pesky fine lines and wrinkles like a champ with a blend of peptides and collagen builders. HSC Complex is included to counter the loss of lipids due to washing, stress, environment and excessive UV exposure while hyaluronic acid helps skin retain water to make it softer and more supple.

The formula is water-based so it doesn’t clog pores or cause breakouts and works well for oily and acne-prone skin; but it also moisturizes so it will also benefit even the driest skin. It has a light texture that absorbs quickly and doesn’t have any potentially irritating scent. The formula is also free of parabens, synthetic dyes, phthalates and GMOs.

The Eye Cream . Line Release Under Eye Repair Cream is a high-performance dream cream that also makes a major impact. It tackles the many things that make us nuts about the eye area as we get older. It brightens under eye circles, minimizes lines and wrinkles, and depuffs. Eyes instantly look brighter and younger and continue to improve as you use the cream.

A blend of peptides is included to restore and maintain a youthful look while something called Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 is included to reduce wrinkle depth. Another ingredient called Dermaxyl stimulates cell communication to repair age-related skin damage. And proprietary complexes take aim at puffiness and circles.

This paraben-free, scent-free eye cream has a silky texture, spreads easily, is very hydrating and works well under concealer. A little goes a long way so the half-ounce bottle lasts quite awhile (still working my way through mine).

Worth the Money . Both of these products are on the pricey side (the serum is $150, the eye cream is $125). But considering how well they work, they really are worth the money. If you’re concerned about taking the plunge, head to a Sephora store and ask for samples so you can try before you buy.

But the perk that I think is most appealing to me would be the access to an expert esthetician and the accompanying treatments all within reach. Party in Malibu? Book me a facial! Oh, we’re in Bali next week? I think I’ll get a body wrap today. That’s what my caviar dreams are made of.

First a bit about Kate. She is absolutely adorable (that’s her on her site’s home page). And like you’d want and expect from a skin care expert, she just glows. For the past 15 years, she has dedicated her life to healthy skin through research and development. From the pioneering of the Skin Health Pyramid (five fundamental elements for attaining and maintaining beautiful skin), to the opening of her Melrose Place clinic in 2004, to the release of her 20+ product line, I truly believe Kate when she says “everyone can achieve beautiful skin, and it’s my promise to guide you there.”

To say I delighted when Tracy and Megan sent me ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment, one of their best selling products, would be a huge understatement. I’ve been dying to try this product. They advertise this as “the next best thing to seeing Kate in the clinic.” And let me tell you, I can see why. Hands down, this is my new favorite skin care product (and if you knew my bathroom cabinets, that’s saying A LOT!) A blend of fruit enzymes polish your skin by removing dead cells & eliminating bacteria, leaving a smooth, glowing complexion. You feel Exfolikate doing exactly that. It’s a bit intense (and if you have sensitive skin, I suggest picking this up in the Gentle formula) but oh, the results! I looked exactly like I do after an hour long (and twice as expensive) facial. I haven’t seen my skin this smooth in months. 2 other points worth mentioning, it’s “highly effective in combating acne, including stubborn blackheads.” Hooray! And this stuff is FAST. 20-30 seconds and no scrubbing involved. I heart Exfolikate!

Lucky chick that I am, I also got to try the Line Release Under Eye Repair Cream.Created to directly address the key complaints of her clients; dark circles, puffiness and crows feet. And again, Kate hits it out of the park. This is an eye cream junkie’s dream. It’s a “high-performing, powerful eye-brightener & line-fighter, that cushions the delicate eye area & instantly firms & lifts.” And you know what? It’s all true. I noticed immediate results with this extremely hydrating product. It’s not a cream, to me it feels more like a serum. And I would recommend using it well before you apply your makeup, as I noticed the longer I let it soak into my skin, the better (I preferred using it at night, actually). But with a list of ingredients that reads like a science book, this made me look instantly younger, absorbing into my wrinkles and making them less pronounced and reducing puffiness & circles. Kate developed this product because she was a non-believer in traditional, heavy eye creams. And her reasoning makes total sense; “most eye cremes are filled with mineral oil and other pore clogging ingredients leaving the delicate under eye area with hardened oil deposits.” So that’s what those horrible bumps are from! I’m glad to know that won’t be an issue with my new go-to eye product.

Kate Somerville KateCeuticals Lifting Eye Cream

My Review

I have to say, I think the Eye Cream is my favourite product from the Kate Somerville KateCeuticals collection because it really does instantly smooth and illuminate the whole eye area. It is amazing under makeup and I have been using it most days for a few weeks. It provides long lasting hydration which is vital for me because this is the area I find shows the lines and wrinkles more as my skin dries out over the course of a day.

If you are looking for an eye cream to tackle the full range of skin concerns for that area, then this will be an ally. It works on dehydration, puffiness, lines and dark circles. It is rich but not heavy and sinks in effortlessly.

The Firming Serum is also excellent and has a beautiful texture. I like to leave it for about 10 minutes before applying moisturiser to really let it do its work. It is really hydrating and comfortable on the skin. I haven’t been using it every day, but I do feel it has contributed to a nice bounce in my skin.

The Total Repair Cream is absolutely gorgeous and I think I love it even more than my Peptide K8 Powder Cream as it just that bit more moisturising and hydrating. I have been testing a new Retinol Night Serum from Omorivicza*, and it is absolutely perfect after that to make sure the barrier is protected and supported.

If you are looking for a brilliant moisturiser that’s good enough to tackle dry skin, and also offers a host of anti-aging benefits, this is definitely one to look at.

The KateCeuticals Resurfacing Overnight Peel is absolutely brilliant. I apply a thin layer a couple of nights a week and then use ExfoliKate the following morning. The overnight peel rapidly boost cell renewal, and then when I exfoliate the next morning, I get major glow.
