Thought nothing would help. I have Fibrocystic Breast Disease since taking Lupron in 1992-3 and I never thought anything would ever help it. When a doctor suggest a "natural" medication to me (Evening Primrose Oil) I almost feel off the table. When it actually worked I thought I had found a miracle. This stuff really is amazing.

Evening Primrose Oil(Oral) Reviews

I have felt very down over the last month due to my hormones, it would affect others around me and I realised this. I've never felt so low in my life before and being young this is horrible, i would make stuff up in my mind that wasn't evening happening and i was worried and had this horrible sadness pain in my chest that made me have no motivation to do anything. I got recommended by my aunt as i didn't want to go on medication as i knew this was a hormonal thing, i have no reason for the moods as i have everything in life right now that makes me happy. Within 5 days since taking them i no longer have that depressing thought, the pain is no longer there and i feel a lot happier and lifted with others around me, i think they do work! I hope it stays that way

Incredible for relieving breast pain if it is hormonal. Even after a couple of days of taking 2 a day it has massively eased off!

Took Tesco 1000mg capsules for 2 months. Did not improve hot flushes. Made worse existing heart palpitations, made me feel anxious and that I couldn’t cope if palpitations continued at that level. Did not relate the palpitations to EPO until found a forum where people said they increased their palpitations. Have stopped taking it about a week or so and palpitations have returned to much lower level, manageable.

I started with 3,000 mg or so for about a month and then ramped down to about 1,500 for another month and continued to ramp down to about 500 mg which i take daily

I am 37 and for the past 4 years, I have been suffering severe PMS symptoms especially fatigue, depression and extreme mood swings. I started taking EPO about 3 weeks ago and it has been a real miracle for me. I have not had even a hint of the usual aches, pains, fatigue or mood swings I usually do. I am much calmer and my libido has been more even and sex more enjoyable. I use the Barleans brand 2 capsules once a day and find that this is the right dose for me. Glad I finally tried it!

Not good I gave it my best effort for about a month, but I just couldn't swallow the gelcaps, they got stuck in my throat causing me to choke.

Helps PMS, not migraines I started taking Evening Primrose Oil to help with my PMS. I take 2 1300 mg capsules which yield 270 mg of GLA. My PMS has been much less severe, but I still experience about the same number of migraines.

Works on pain/other disease; Not for Endometriosis For other disease, this may be a cure/management, but for Endometriosis – NO! Treating symptoms is not the same as treating the actual Disease. Understandibly this works for Endometriosis Pain due to stopping the Blood Stagnation – the GLA helps stimulate the blood flow. Though, PAIN IS SIMPLY A SYMPTOM AND NOT THE DISEASE ITSELF, so this is no cure. However, something that does not work for long term management of Endometriosis or growth prevention is the PhytoEstrogen portion of Evening Primrose Oil, though the GLA is good, there are other things in this that are definitely not good for Endo. It has Estrogenic qualities due to the plant estrogens found in it; while these compete and block estrogen receptors preventing the bodies natural estrogen from uptake; they eventually, after long term use, cause an increase of estrogen within the body, much of it being stored in Tissue – not blood, so unable to test for it. It also can lead to a congested/slowed liver, which is untestable due to no liver enzymes breaking down into the blood, due to excess estrogen building up over that long period of use time, which causes Estrogen Dominance and leads to further Endometriosis Growth instead of Prevention or Cure. So, while covering up the Symptoms of Endo very well via Pain Management; this is not preventing or helping the actual Disease of Endometriosis. Endo is more than pain; Pain is simply a symptom only due to the blood stagnation or Scar tissue positioning, and other symptoms like cysts, etc. BE VERY CAREFUL taking EPO regularly. It will UP YOUR ESTROGEN TISSUE LEVELS AND ENDOMETRIOSIS GROWTH without you even being aware or realizing it, especially since it masks the pain symptoms. PLEASE USE WITH CAUTION.

Use Sparingly If you have very oily skin, you may find this makes you more oily and aggravates acne, as it did in my case. However, I will take this on occasion for my dry winter skin. It probably would be helpful for those using accutane. I have heard EPO helps some people because it regulates female hormones.

rash at high dose I keep on taking EPO but at much lower levels, I started at an amount recommended in a book – it was too much, my doctor told me it was the reason for red spots around my trunck. Don't know if the lower dose makes any difference with the MS but my skin is in better shape no longer dry.I also take fish oil and vitD daily

It works for hot flashes and menstrual cramps I recently began having hot flashes which lasted throughout the day and also had been unable to sleep at night. I later put the two together, the hot flashes were waking me up all night. I have had headaches for several weeks as well. I am 36 and have been on the same bcp for 15 years. After two treatments of primrose, my hot flashes were markedly reduced. After one week, they completely gone. The headaches are now very mild. A unforseen side effect has been, this most recent period was the best I've had since I started at age 16. I hope it keeps up!

Primrose Oil in Supplement as well as Cream I take Primrose oil 500 mg/ 1Xday. I take it specifically for reduction of migraines, the ceasing of breast tenderness during cyclical changes and reduction of PMS symptoms such as mood swings. However, I also use it as an ingredient in my Burt's Bees night face cream. People are always complimenting my skin and my youthful appearance which is of course secondary to why I use it to begin with. Another by-product of its use, I find is seems to be a natural libido enhancer.

I started using 1000mg EPO once a day, several months ago for hot flashes and enjoyed a reduction in frequency and severity. Recently, I increased the dose to twice per day with the intention to eliminate the hot flashes completely. However, with the increased dosage I noticed bothersome side effects of very soft stools, headache and increased heart rate. Back to once per day!

I started taking EPO for hair loss due to hypothyroid. I got my thyroid medication adjusted properly about 6 months ago (TSH was over 3.0 at that time) and had noticed a lot of hair loss then. I started EPO about 3 months ago and it seems to be working well. My hairloss has minimized and it looks like my hair has started to return to ‘normal’. Satisfied so far.

I have been menopausal for 10 years now and started taking EPO since 2011 when I went off low dose hormones completely. I wasn’t having hot flashes but I was experiencing night sweats which interfered with my sleep. My doctor recommended EPO and it works great. I started out taking 2 three times a day and then tapered off to 2 in the morning and 2 before bed. I find how well it works depends on the brand you buy so if you try it for a month or so and don’t see a significant difference try ano ther herbal brand name. I love it. I have rosacea and women’s evening primrose oil has been a life saver. It has evened out my complexion, reduced the dryness and itch and a bonus my hair has grown very long. I recommend this product if you want better skin and hair.

I have used it for breast pain for 1 year and know longer have that pain.

I could not take medicine prescribed for me by my doctor anymore. I didn’t feel it was doing its job and I lost my health ins. Someone suggested using Evening Primrose Oil and it has helped my hair to stop falling out and I feel good now and I am hoping it will help me to lose weight or at least help me to stop gaining weight.

I experienced a constant stabbing pain in my left breast due to a large swelling of benign cysts pressing on a nerve in my left breast. One swelling was so large it was visible on the outside of the breast. This occurred the week before my period was due. I also have fibroids in my uterus that swell with particularly heavy cycles. It was a holiday weekend so the doctor’s office was closed and Midol had no effect. When I couldn’t take the pain anymore, I started taking EPO capsules for several da ys with great success. The pain in my breast was gone with a few hours, and the swelling was gone in less than 24 hours. As an added bonus, both my breasts and uterus were less tender throughout my cycle. I experienced no side side effects from the EPO. Read More Read Less

I used EPO with glucosamine 750 and chondroitin sulfate, sodium 600 for my joint pains in my hands and feet. no side effects. For 3 weeks.

I am a 77 yr old female who recently had cataract surgery. The opthomologist suggested EPO for Dry eyes ( I can not take Flax seed products.)I have been using EPO capsules, 2300mgs, for a week-too soon to know results but I have had three tia’s and one minor stroke and am taking Plavix. Should I be taking EPO.

I started taking EPO for PMS symptoms, mostly irritability. The only difference I have seen is that I now have breast tenderness—this is not documented anywhere that I could find as a side effect, but I do see that another person who reviewed EPO had the same problem.

This has helpd with PMS and pre-menapause symptoms greatly. The mood swings have left the food cravings and the cramps. I am no longer as depressed. My bald spot is growing back due to hormonal changes, and the night sweats and hot flashes are gone unless I eat too much sugar.

night sweats are 90% gone. I’m now getting more sleep.Day time sweats are at70% less. It really has helped make life more tolerable. But my Breast are more tender.Go figure.

i take this every day as directed for many reasons, but it helps me with pms.i can tell the differance

I asked my doctor if I could be going through premenoupause at age 38. My mom started going through menoupause at age 40. They don’t think so, however, I have the symptoms night sweats, insomnia, very bad cramps, severe irritability/moodiness right at my cycle start. I had night sweats 1 wk before my cycle starts as well. I just started taking EPO in the liquid form during these symptom times and is working. I am going to try it in lower doses daily then increase it a week prior to my cycle and see how this works. It does make me sleep better, reduces cramping, however, the main side effect with me I feel droggy. Thus far, the benefits are outweighing any side effects. I will report back on here how the changes taking daily EPO. Plus, you have to adjust the intake to how your body reacts to it. The first time I took full recommended dosage and I was really droggy the next day. Now, I cut it in half took half in AM and rest in PM and the results were much better. Not everyone is the same reacting on any medicine/herb, the best thing is to listen to your body on dosage. Read More Read Less

I have been taking EPO since 1982. I have had no side effects. After the birth of my first child, I had a great deal of depression. Since I started taking EPO, it has gone away. When I stop taking EPO, I can definitely see a difference, in that my depression begins to return.

I have suffered from Diabetic Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia and Cervical & Lumbar Degenrative Arthritis,Insomnia, Anxiety and Menopause for the last 6yrs, which I have been treated with MANY prescription drugs and undergone treatment at pain clinic. All of which has been no help in getting rid of the pain I suffer from daily. Being desperate to find myself some help during some internet research I st.

I have been using EPO for about 25years to help with sore breast for PMS and it helped I only took 1 pill 1000mg once to twice every month Now that I am going through menopause I take the same dosage to help with hot flashes and again it has helped so much in reducing the amount of times that I get a hot flash

I’m in my late 20’s and have always had problems with irregular periods, but last year they suddenly just stopped all together. My GP did multiple tests to try and work out whether it was a hormonal issue or if I was anaemic, and all the tests came back fine and clear so we were stumped. My mum suggested I try EPO, and two weeks later I had my first period in almost a year. I had another one the next month, and am hoping for a third!

I’m 52 and have started having around 20 or more hot flashes a day. I read that evening primrose will prevent it. It has excellently. I might have 4 flashes now and I have only been taking the primrose for three days. It started working the first day. The hot flashes I do have are 80 % less severe also. This works really good and really fast. Also good for many other things. Definitely worth a try.

I started using this to help with hormone issues I was having. I’ve been using for about 2 months consistently and I’ve had great results. Not to mention my Skin is flawless! In the beginning I noticed a few new breakouts, but apparently this is a purge phase and after two weeks my skin was noticeably much smoother. I’m glad I gave it a try.

Had severe breast pain. A zinging, with aching and sharp pain. Tried ice packs, heating pads, and then I tried EP. Completely gave me relief.

Have only taken for 2 weeks, breast pain is gone, periods are getting lighter and less painful! Have been able to notice and control stress levels. I only take 1000mg 3times per wk.

In the past year, I have begun to insert one capsule vaginally for about three days every menstrual cycle in accordance with pain and dryness. I noticed that my breasts are actually more tender and fuller with using this as a treatment. Also I unfortunately frequently experience BV from using saliva as lubricant(I assume). This instantly clears up the symptoms of BV before they become an issue. In my eyes, an incredible herbal treatment.

I have lots of bloating, hot flashes, always hot during the day. I read great reviews and decided to buy and try it. So far itâ??s amazing and it cut my appetite as well.

I’m 74 & have been taking two 1000 mg softgels a day for over 20 yrs. If I go without for 1-2 weeks, the pain returns & it will take 10 days of 3 softgels a day for the pain to go away again. I recommend it to all anyone who complains of arthritis pain. Since Jamieson has now discontinued, I’ve been looking for another manufacturer & worried about the delay since I only have enough for 10 days.

I began taking evening Primrose shortly after a hysterectomy. I had round ligament pain from the surgery. After reading up several people suggested evening primrose. Pain Medicineâ??s did not take the pain away. So I tried evening primrose and within 10 minutes the pain disappeared. At that time I suffered from psoriasis. After being on evening primrose for several months I noticed that all symptoms of psoriasis had disappeared. I assumed it was from the evening primrose, but wasnâ??t sure. For a short time I stopped taking a P. After a month or so I noticed all my psoriasis symptoms returned. So I returned to taking the supplement. Again, all symptoms of psoriasis disappeared. So I see that studies do not always support this, but in my case it was extremely effective. Read More Read Less

This is not an “ad” for EFA Gold. It is only my personal, unpaid experience. I know no one who works or is involved with Nature’s Way–just a little disclaimer. I have taken Nature’s Way EfaGold Evening Primrose Oil for about 20 years. (I take 4-1300mg capsules 6 days a week.) THIS IS THE ONLY BRAND I TAKE.(I took many other brands but this is the ONLY one that improved my health.) I was diagnosed by two physicians with Sjogren’s Syndrome AND they also kept telling me I most likely had multiple s clerosis (and chronic fatigue syndrome. I went from doctor to doctor for several years trying to find out what was wrong.) I was using OTC lubricating drops in my eyes all day and and an OTC goopy, oily lubricant at night(didn’t help much). The Rx Restasis caused my eyes to get horribly red, painful and scratchy and I stopped it after a few days. Now I use OTC drops a few times a week. Because of the constant dry eyes and horrible body aches, I resigned work years ago and continued the EFAGold EPO. I do not have anywhere near the degree of symptoms I had 20 years ago. I occasionally have some fatigue at times now, can get achy when it is stormy and cold, but I’m 68!! Overall, I have improved beyond IMMENSELY. I know I would be wheelchair or bed bound by now if not for EFA Gold EPO. There’s just no other explanation for my huge improvement–these autoimmune diseases don’t just magically go away. Only thing that has helped with mood related symptoms around PMS. Iâ??m surprised it is dismissed for this purpose in the information on webmd. I would recommend it to anyone struggling with Pms as there seem to be so few treatments that are helpful on the market.
