That being said, thus far the Holy Hydration Skincare Collection in general has been a bust for me. I’m really not liking what I’ve tried and I do recommend the Hydrated Ever After Skincare Mini Kit which is $20 and includes deluxe sizes of all the products from the collection. Don’t make the same mistake I did and commit to full-sizes of these products without trying them first. The $20 set is a good way to do that.

E.L.F. Holy Hydration! Eye Cream is $10 bucks (or buy 1, get 1 50% off at Ulta on the entire E.L.F Skincare line) 0.4 oz in size. It arrives in a small plastic jar and I was sort of surprised at the size as it looks bigger than it actually is.

This is something that may be appealing to someone just starting out in skincare but I do not recommend it if you’re an eye cream connoisseur of sorts. I prefer thicker, quick to absorb eye creams and this isn’t that. This has a gel cream-like texture which isn’t a bad thing but simply didn’t work out well for me as it doesn’t fully absorb and leaves the skin under my eyes very dewy and wet. I don’t mind that in all honesty but unfortunately, that dewiness didn’t play nice with my concealer and I felt like I was smearing my concealer on a wet surface which caused a streaky application. It wasn’t an ideal canvas for concealer. I guess if you don’t wear concealer that might be fine but if you do it can be a problem. I’ve been using it since it launched several weeks ago and can’t say I’ve seen any improvement in puffiness. I don’t have major darkness under my eyes so that I can’t really speak for that.

The consistency and texture isn’t my only issue. The fact that it’s marketed as having HA is funny as HA is very low down on the ingredients list and close to last. I didn’t find the cream hydrated nor helped to retain the moisture it provided under my eyes. My eyes felt no more nor less hydrated than when I applied it. It just felt like a cooling eye gel that never set without any moisturizing benefits during the initial application and well after daily use.

E.L.F. Holy Hydration! Eye Cream isn’t for me. It might be something a younger demographic might enjoy using as a first eye cream or a lightweight one. Personally, I need something way richer with better ingredients.

My Experience with ELF Illuminating Eye Cream:

This product claims to hydrate sensitive skin around the eyes and eventually reduce the appearance of fine lines and dark circles. It also contains a lot of beneficial ingredients such as Jojoba oil, Vitamin E oil and cucumber extract, which are panaceas for all our skin-related issues.

Packaging: This eye cream comes in a sea green color jar with a twist-up lid. It is made up of thick plastic and not prone to breakage if mishandled. The jar seems to contain a lot of product, but only a small volume of jar actually contains the product.

Texture: The cream looks like a regular moisturizer, however, it is easier to blend compared other thicker consistency creams which tend to leave an oily residue behind. I would dare not use it on the rest of my face because of the excessive of oils present in it but that feature is perfect to fight wrinkles.

How To Use: Use morning and night after thoroughly cleansing face and then other skin care products and makeup can be layered on top of it. With ring finger, gently dab around the under eye, outward to the temples, and along the brow bone to illuminate tired eyes. I let it sit on my eyes for a few minutes before I wear any makeup and if I see excessive of oil on my lids then I gently dab it off with tissue.

Efficacy: I did notice an obvious change in the topography of my under eye skin; especially after I applied makeup, there was less appearance of fine lines under my eyes where my makeup tends to break most often. I wear it twice a day and in less than a week, I have noticed a faint lightening of my dark circles and I am hopeful that it will continue to work so in near future as well.
