I took these pills for 5 months, following directions, maintaining the same type and amount of food as I’ve had in my diet for more than a decade, and, not only did I NOT lose weight, I GAINED 8 POUNDS! I ordered a bottle of KetoFast and got one free on May 25. I was charged 34.98 for the one bottle and another charge for 198.00! I called right away and could only cancel the monthly order they would send every month with an automated voice. I received the two bottles and one other one for a cleanse that I did not want. After several calls I finally got an RMA # to send it all back. After at least 10 – 12 phone calls and emails I still have not received a refund, it is now September 10th! Every time I called they are always so sorry and promise I will get my refund in a few weeks or other excuses I would get an e-check. This is a scam and completely dishonest Company. I also do not believe that the shark tank would promote this unethical company! Is there anyone that can help?

To say I have pissed the hell off is an understatement! Was on the site with Dr. Oz & thought I would take advantage of the deal offered. Clicked on the link, click on the promotions (where they indicated). As I begin putting in my info, I started feeling like something wasn’t kosher. I stopped putting in the rest, did not go to checkout/confirm the order. I closed out the page completely. Next thing I know, I get an email confirming my order & a charge on my cc for almost $200. I immediately called them, was put on the phone with a man who speaks terrible English. I informed him that the charge was not approved or even submitted by me & I wanted it canceled now! I was told I could not cancel the order, I threatened to stop payment, seek legal, etc. nothing worked. This crap showed up 14 days later from china & the only results from this witch oil is a headache daily. Be very careful when ordering, investigate, confirm & be informed! This KetoFast & the company needs to be shut down immediately & ordered to refund all the people they scammed!! Where are the people that suppose to be watching these scammers & protecting the consumers?

First, the website ordering tricks you. You think you are taking advantage of a $30 KetoFast trial offer but when you check out it has switched to highlight the higher-priced package so I got billed $150 +/-. When I received there were no directions, no recipes, no list of foods, no info on how it works. Sent 2 emails and both times just got ‘take 2 pills with water.’ Finally, I called and an almost impossible accented person said all info on the website (NOT) He said you have to exercise and I said they should put that on the website because I’m handicapped and can’t exercise. If I could I probably wouldn’t be interested in diets. I asked him where he was located…’ working from home’ so I asked him if the home was India. He just laughed. I have not taken the first pill…actually afraid to now. Someone said just eat on the Atkins diet because it’s all the same. This COVID quarantine has kept people home and ordering things they normally would check out in stores that have easy return policies. Reading the above reviews I know I won’t get my money back so it is a hard lesson earned. Find a support number on everything you order. We purchase KetoFast and used the product religiously for one month. We eat well and exercise daily. We lost ZERO pounds. We should have know when they overcharge us by $110.00. I called and I was told we would get a refund. We are still waiting and of course when I called a few weeks later no one could find the refund order. I have a confirmation number and that did not work. Then when I call I will get someone who does not speak speaks good English. I am sorry but if you are going to have a customer service dept. in the USA have people who speak English. I have to ask several times to repeat what they just said. Then they hand up on me because I cannot understand what they are saying. I have been trying to find their corporate office number and of course, I can not find it. If anyone has their number please let me know how you got it.

I just ordered it today. Offer said 39.74 buy 3 get 2 FREE, so $119.22 RIGHT? I immediately got an email from my credit card saying I was charged $198.70. I called KetoFast within 5 min of placing order. I told them that I just wanted to cancel my order completely. As it states in their ad 100% money back guarantee, no-hassle return-free return if not satisfied but I got the run-around and the said they can’t cancel my order. They sent me an email for a $69.54 credit. They said the credit will appear on my credit card 3-5 days. It had better. Also heard that keto is a scam and was never on any shark tank episodes complete lie. No ingredients listed for this product and that pictures were a lie stolen from another weight loss site. Wondering now if I will receive product seeing as others have reported not getting theirs. Also if it will even work with all the lies they have already told, I hardly doubt it. just got another notice of unauthorized charge on my credit card for $34+ on the phone with a credit card company now.

Unfortunately what I found was a seemingly hastily put together high-level hodge podge of related information that is breezily presented and then re-iterated a few times over and over, as if repeating the same high-level points would make a person understand things better. A lot of the information in this book is in Fat for Fuel. There is a bit more, some fine tuning. But it too is a little annoying – he recommends many steps that for most of us is burdensome, such as constant monitoring of food intake, many blood tests that doctors don’t normally order, etc. The most troublesome, for me, was the notion that you HAVE to have access to a certain type of sauna to detox properly. The sauna costs over $5,000. Sorry, Dr. Mercola, we aren’t all able to afford something A lot of the information in this book is in Fat for Fuel. There is a bit more, some fine tuning. But it too is a little annoying – he recommends many steps that for most of us is burdensome, such as constant monitoring of food intake, many blood tests that doctors don’t normally order, etc. The most troublesome, for me, was the notion that you HAVE to have access to a certain type of sauna to detox properly. I didn’t understand half of what the terms were and honestly the keto-plan was just a over complicated version of what I had been doing on my own for months so really I spent money on a book for info that I already knew and was already implementing. I didn’t think this book was particularly informative or inspiring about the benefits of fasting. If you’re looking to understand fasting, I highly recommend The Complete Guide to Fasting by Dr. Jason Fung instead.

Many years ago when I reviewed books for the late epinions.com, another book reviewer extolled the benefits of calorie restriction after reading a book about it. I skeptically read his review and was not convinced at all that there were health benefits to caloric restriction. I believe I rated it ‘somewhat helpful’ to his annoyance. How times have changed! Research into caloric restriction or fasting has exponentially continued for a wider understanding of the many positive changes it can cause

Research into caloric restriction or fasting has exponentially continued for a wider understanding of the many positive changes it can cause in the human body.

Dr. Joseph Mercola’s 2019 book Ketofast: Rejuvenate Your Health With a Step-by-Step Guide to Timing Your Ketogenic Meals has made me much less skeptical about the health benefits. The habitual three meals and practically non-stop snacking is not what our bodies thrive on.

Our evolving bodies had to learn to sometimes go without food for long periods of time when hunting was unsuccessful or nothing much could be gathered. When farming commenced the crops often failed or were destroyed. Anthropological evidence reveals the smaller build of farming people forced to starve when crops failed and there was nothing to eat as a back-up.

While fasting or caloric restriction has traditionally been embraced by all religions for ascetic purposes, ancient celebrities like Plato and Hippocrates recommended fasting for your health.

Its benefits include weight loss, of course, but also mitochondrial rejuvenation, more growth hormone, more neurons, cell repair, resistance to cancer and diabetes from metabolic flexibility, ketone production,, better mental clarity, longevity, and stem cell activation.

I’ started using intermittent fasting a month ago when I heard a NIH neuroscientist speak about how intermittent fasting (IF) in diseased rats helped them to overcome their Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. It challenges a body to respond to the prospect of starvation and then when you start eating again the positive changes occur. Neuroplasticity is stimulated.

IF must be done gradually and sometimes only with your doctor’s guidance. Your body may be insulin-resistant if you’re very overweight and cannot lose and keep off the weight.

For such people a ketogenic diet blended with IF will be crucial to eliminate cravings, overeating, and all the health problems that ensue. Burning fat for fuel on a ketogenic/IF diet is key to your dieting success and it allows for limited indulgences.. For myself I’m too low in body fat as it is and am only doing an IF with 18 hours only drinking water and herbal tea, followed by 6 hours where I eat a couple meals. I do think I have more energy, but am struggling to quit eating three hours before bedtime, which Mercola highly recommends.

Many books have been written on IF, but it seems like this one was a great place to start. . more

I have found that even though I am getting more calories in than my goal to lose weight, I am losing weight and inches with the intermitten fasting, and a healthy diet right with fruits and vegetables that are giving well over the carb intake allowed on the keto diet.
And its a lot easier for me to follow, the plus for me is I can stick to my low sodium diet also, and my blood pressure is slowly improving.

My takaway is yes intermitten fasting works , do not eat anything 3 hours before you go to bed so your body has time to burn and process the calories you’ve eaten properly instead of storing it as fat.
Fast for minimum of 12 to 18 hours, for the best results aim for closer to 14 hours or more. This has worked wonderfully for me. I am losing inches and about 1 to 2 pounds a week. A nice healthy amount that is more likely to stay off.

Having been working on losing weight (20 pounds so far), I have learned what works for me and what doesn’t. I have tried Keto which is hard to do and still get my potassium, magnesium, calcium, and fiber in, while keeping my sodium under 1500 mg. I have tried Paleo, which is very similar, and the dash diet. I have found a combination that works for my needs, and its not low carb, but it is NO PROCESSED foods, which have a tenency to have high added sugar and sodium, both of which spike my blood pressure even when keeping within the 1500mg or lower guidelines for sodium.
Natural sugars and salts from fruits and vegetables do not do this. Which was a surprise to me.
So my advice is use the book as a tool on your journey to a healthier lifestyle, but don’t stress or get frustrated if its not the plan for you. Take what works with you and add it to you health plan along with the things you’ve learned from your research to a healthier happier you.

Mercola actually said he was wrong in the first keto book “Fat for Fuel” (in which recommends keto for most folks most of the time, basically) and corrects the path in this one, where he changed to recommending *cycles* of keto, fasting and re-feeding. The most coming from a documentary he recommends, Stink! Which is less about Intermittent Fasting and more about additives in foods and everything else in our lives. I rented it from Amazon. I was interesting, yet it made me feel a bit helpless.

It has cleared up a lot of questions I had about intermittent fasting and made me feel more confident about the way I was doing it. One thing I felt it was lacking was a more subjective way to monitor fasting. Like signs to look out for if you are pushing your body too far and maybe the progress you should feel as your body adapts to it. I found the book very interesting. I’ve been on a keto diet for half a year but unlike most people I haven’t lost massive weight (the probable cause is my thyroid). The keto fast and keto/carb cycling suggested by Dr Mercola might be useful in my case. Some information was new to me, some I’ve known before but I think it’s always good to have confirmation from many different doctors. The only minus is the chapter about sauna and testing methods. In my opinion they were too detailed as it was som I found the book very interesting. Decent book, it’s VERY repetitive and speaks about the benefits of fasting or things surrounding the topic of fasting for 95% of the book and just touches on Ketofasting for 5% of the book. I’d prefer if it was primarily about keto fasting with the remainder of the book talking about variations of how to implement the methods for athletes or people with different conditions. Instead it makes one prescription for all people which has been explained in Podcasts the author has appeared on.

Very informative resource for people who are interested in fasting and how that can partner with a Keto diet. This book was full of information, but is pretty dry to read and a lot of the medical terms were intimating and overwhelming.
The chapters on exactly how to fast safey were the best and worth the read just for that.

It’s complicated!

Very well written and researched, but way too complicated and time consuming to implement for the average person who just wants to find a way to improve their health. It would be great if that way of life didn’t necessitate purchasing many different products and supplements as well. It’s complicated!

An improvement on keto and IF

Some useful fine tuning to how to most effectively use intermittent fasting and ketosis. Did it warrant a book this long? Probably not. While there is some real gems here there is a lot of repetition. A worthwhile read nevertheless.

Well, I already instigated the fasting bit of this.
I guess I’ll try the keto bit next.

Great add on to my keto lifestyle

Very educational, but insanely redundant! The EXACT same information is repeated several times. It’s easy to skip over most of some chapters.

A bit specific and niche; his earlier books may be less specific and prescriptive, but I didn’t enjoy his writing style enough to read anything else by him – and there are a lot!

I did it backwards as I’ve had the cookbook for awhile and finally got curious enough to track down the original book. I appreciate the section on handing detox immensely. Good Keto Book

Interesting read. A bit verbose at times. But we’ll worth applying to life. This is a program that should provide, if followed, healthy life!

This was an interesting read that’s main take home point is to always stop eating 3-4 hours before bed. This way your body can work on cleansing & healing rather than digesting. It also suggests to stop eating all day long. That seems like common sense to me. There are other good tips in the book like choosing organic foods. There are some “woo woo” suggestions & there is a lot of stuff to implement in order to follow Dr. Mercola’s plans. It’s way more then I’m willing to invest in. But here’s the thing, in the beginning of the book he admits how he thought other diet ideas were THE thing, then he learned that perhaps he was wrong & now he believes that this is THE thing. No matter your food beliefs, Keto is a fad diet. There is some very good nutritional advice in here, no question, but it’s still a fad diet. I like that he even is sure to say you shouldn’t follow a Keto diet indefinitely because it can have negative consequences.

An annoying part of this book is how often he refers the reader to other books &/or websites for additional information. What this book does is give you a very basic bare bones plan. He does tell you how to do it. I noticed some folks saying there is no info. on the “how”, that simply isn’t true. It’s here, but not spelled out in a hold your hand spoon feed you sort of way. He provides the guidelines & lets you free to follow them. From what I gather, you are better off with other books rather than this one as many have stated this is regurgitated info. from his other books. I do not know if this is true as I’ve never purchased any of his other books, although I do visit his website.

I follow my own personal diet that is a mix of low FODMAPS & AIP. After 15 years of struggling, I find this is what works best for me. I already stop eating a few hours before bed. Personally I cannot stand going to bed with food &/or drink in my belly. It feels awful, plus then I have to get up in the middle of the night. I’d rather stay asleep. I also let several hours go in between eating. I don’t eat all day long. I’m glad to know that these things are considered healthy choices. It makes sense from an evolutionary point of view as well. Packaged processed foods & a constant supply of food wasn’t the norm all that long ago. I also grow my own foods on my organic family farm. It’s an incredible amount of work.

So please, eat healthy, get off the crap, visit your local farmer &/or farmers market, don’t try to pay less, farmers are already underpaid & overworked. Go Keto, Paleo, or Mediterranean, etc. if it works for you. There is no one size fits all. Stay informed & use common sense. . more

It’s about marketing and self-ownership and this dude isn’t that much different, not to say what 70% of what he says isn’t informational or good, it’s just overshadowed by this specter of marketing. Furthermore, he bases this cyclical version of ketosis – which may in fact work – on nothing but ideas. No studies, which is fine, but it’s written like cycling out of ketosis is a fact that it’s healthier. For instance, he will claim being in long term ketosis is bad because of XYZ function. Ok, makes sense, but has anyone ever proven that. There’s also a major problem I have with hyper-obsessives shills talking about the NEED to eat algae. You don’t NEED to eat algae, I get you’re a doctor and this is your job but not everyone wan’ts to waste $150 on a bottle of bitters and algae.

Finally, he gets into the Joe Rogan zone where he is talking about APPLYING MAGNESIUM TO HIS SKIN DAILY AND THEN WIPING IT OFF WITH A SPECIAL RAG AND A BUNCH OF OTHER WOO WOO. BUDDY, I WIPE MYSELF WITH A RAG EVERYDAY IT’S CALLED A CUMRAG AND IT DOESN’T GIVE ME SPECIAL POWERS EXCEPT THAT I WON’T TEXT MY EX. . more
