Evaluation
Evaluation is a critical component of a science-based approach. Evaluation helps to:
- Determine whether or not the program is actually doing what it was intended to do
- Discover new knowledge about the program and its activities
- Recognize problem areas and strengthen the program in the future
- Meet requirements for funding and expansion
- Determine changes in knowledge, attitude and behavior among participants in the program
Everything completed up to this point will help to create an evaluation plan. The BDI logic model is a summary of the program and will serve as a road map to evaluation. The activities in the logic model will help to develop a process evaluation and the behaviors and determinants will help to develop an outcome evaluation. Administering pre- and post-tests and/or conducting focus groups are ways of capturing this type of information.
