Community Resources Regarding the African American Community

African American Family Services – program that aims to help the African American individual, family, and community to reach a greater state of well-being through the delivery of community-based, culturally specific chemical health, mental health, and family preservation services

Amigos De Las Américas of the Twin Cities – program that sends teens and young adults on service projects to Latin America

Annex Teen Clinic (North Suburban Youth Health Clinic) – Clinic that aims to support young people ages 12 through 25 in Northwest Hennepin County during the challenging transition from adolescence to adulthood through advocacy, health care, counseling and education

Comadres y Compadres – education program that teaches participants how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and other STIs in a non-threatening, culturally sensitive way. Offered in Spanish and English

Neighborhood House – multi-cultural, multi-lingual center with programs in basic needs, education and youth leadership

Northwest Hennepin Human Services Council – organization that does regional research, planning and coordination of human services that make a difference in the lives of area residents

Office of Minority and Multicultural Health – division of the Minnesota Department of Health that focuses on minority and multicultural health

PHYTT for Life Youth Center – aims to prepare youth and young adults for college by providing a safe and healthy learning environment through the support of tutors, volunteers, mentors, and various programming and strategic partnerships

Q Health Services – community health program that provides access to affordable, quality care for all people

Saint Paul’s Second Shift/Out-of-School Time – provides quality programs at safe neighborhood places for youth to go to when they are not in school
